Jean Broden is a lifelong resident of Philadelphia who has been creating art since she was a young child. Jean attended Moore College of Art as an illustration major, and for many years worked as a commercial artist before returning to school to get a master’s degree in art education. Jean spent nineteen years teaching for the Archdiocese of Philadelphia, mostly as a high school art teacher, a career that she found extremely satisfying.
While teaching in high school, Jean started to take painting classes at Studio Incamminati and fell in love with oil painting. Oil painting changed the focus of Jean’s life, and she spent more and more time at the easel. With the encouragement of her husband, Jean began taking her paintings to art festivals around Philadelphia. In 2019, Jean retired from teaching to focus her time on her painting career (and help take care of her grandchildren).
Jean’s work is a reflection of her interests in nature, vintage household products, and inspiring architecture. You can find her work on Facebook and Instagram @JeanBroden Art, and on her website: www.jeanbrodenart.com.
